Everyday activities will be easier and you will feel confidence in knowing this can help prevent falls. *11:15 AM - 11:45 AM TUESDAY QIgong Improve physical and mental well-being as well as balance. This form is a meditative guided flow yet the form tones and gives vitality by moving in a way that will allow you to transfer your weight in a smooth, rhythmic movement and work toward fall prevention as well as awareness and focused breathing. 12:00 noon - 1:00 PM TUESDAY - YOGA WITH THERAPEUTIC INFLUENCE to include Yoga for Neuroscience This class is for all bodies and anyone can attend this class as long as you can get down to the floor and back up two times. A chair may be placed next to your mat if you need assistance. This class is not powerful, not hard, not gentle, not hot yoga but the class is EFFECTIVE. All classes are taught with therapeutics influences and variations are given based on your limitation to keep you safe. This class is taught with the variation for osteopenia and osteoporosis. We include alignment and grounding, a breathing technique for healthy lung expansion, additional breathing techniques to settle your anxiety,and nervous systems, joint movement for range of motion, stretching for a healthy muscle, effective movements & rotation for a supple spine, balance for fall prevention, strength for strong muscles & self confidence and restoration for relaxation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WEDNESDAY Qigong's principles are to improve physical and mental well-being. Adults 60+ and all abilities and activity levels can play the game. Health benefits from participating in chair volleyball include: -Physical: Improves cardiovascular fitness, increases stamina and joint flexibility, and helps enhance and maintain muscular tone. -Mental: reduces stress, builds confidence, and promotes self-esteem. -Social-Emotional: Promotes a sense of comradery and builds a positive team atmosphere, provide opportunities to meet people in the local community. (2 of 3) Line Dancing. Increases muscle strength and flexibility which in turn improves overall range of motion. (3 of 3) Exercises that strengthen the lower half of your body, specifically, muscles used when balancing and balance techniques. (NOT ON THE SCHEDULE AT THIS TIME) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STRETCHING CONCEPTS - ALSO KNOWN AS AGING BACKWARDS The Essentrics technique is exercised as low-intensity. The stretch exercises are known to relieve pain, prevent injury, and tone the body. This program has Age-Reversing workouts and is known to Straighten Your Posture;Speed Your Weight Loss; Soothe Your Joints; Increase Your Energy; Enhance Your Balance; Improve Your Mobility and Protect Your Bones. For each of the eight workouts, the instructor will provide supporting information as to how the workout is done and why it works. (not on the schedule at this time) |

This cardio weight bearing aerobics workout builds stronger bones and increases muscle mass to protect bones that may have osteoporosis or osteopenia and works the lower half of your body. see below for upper 1/2. 11:00AM - 11:30AM *2 of 2) STRONG BONES (Props may be used consisting of hand and or wrist weights 1 - 6 lbs, stretch band, stretch loops, and your own body weight), This class was designed for those with low body density diagnosed with -Osteoporosis and Osteopenia. However, it is also good if you do not have these diseases. Principles for Strong Bones: -Bone building on individual bones one at a time, meaning it is site specific -Stimulate bones with weight bearing devices (putting a load on your bone stimulates density) -Research show that building bone responds best to different stresses and new challenges. GREAT FOR OSTEOPOROSIS AND OSTEOPENIA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12:00 noon - 12:45 PM *THURSDAY- YOQI (Chair Yoga with Qigong intertwined) Using the same description of chair yoga below and intertwining with QiGong movements. THURSDAY - HEAD TO TOE CHAIR YOGA . Yoga with the use of a chair. This class targets many different parts of your body. The class works with your alignment, stretches, strength, and rotations. Breath with movement will help you become more brain aware, and targets areas not strengthened or stretched often. (this class was replaced with chair YoQi) above.
